Goals of the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board:
1. To assist our members in achieving higher hotel occupancies/increased room revenues;
2. To increase the number of satisfied, quality Board members, which in turn would generate more resort levy contributions which can be used to fund more effective and productive marketing
The NPI Benefits
To benefit from negotiations made on behalf of the destination by the Board?s airlift committee, with major carriers to improve airlift into NPI. Discussions relate to service from all major origins including points within the USA, Canada and Europe.
Internet listing of your hotel on www.nassauparadiseisland.com as well as www.bahamas.com. The NPIPB site also has a Meeting Planner component, which allows the property to receive RFP?s (Request for Proposals) from qualified meeting planners seeking information from the destination. Featuring on the www.bahamas.com site allows the MOT?s ?private label? booking engine partner, Expedia – to sell your hotel rooms and/or air-inclusive packages based upon inventory / rates that you make available and control.
Inclusion of your property in the destination?s ? Destination Guide ? as the signature collateral piece, plus listing in Before You Go ? a guide for visitors giving travel tips. Each piece is distributed to consumers and travel agents in the US and Canada via the call center (1.800.BAHAMAS and 1.800.4 BAHAMAS. Additionally the board and Ministry of Tourism distribute the collateral at trade shows for consumers and travel trade in USA, Canada and Europe.
Where appropriate, your hotel would be listed in our Meeting Planner Guide used as a marketing tool for meeting planners highlighting all that is needed to help to plan a meeting in NPI.
Participation in major trade ?buyer meets supplier? type shows/conferences, e.g., Bahamas International Travel Partners Conference (ITPC), World Travel Mart (WTM), Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) Marketplace, etc., as well as inclusion in Board sponsored seminars, sales blitzes and familiarization trips.
Valuable editorial coverage/publicity resulting from themed group press trips, independent visiting journalists press trips, a monthly themed press release program and consumer promotions, done in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism?s Public Relations firm, Weber Shandwick and by the board?s representative office in London which would coordinate trips by the European press.
Inclusion in special value-added promotions, e.g., Bahamas Getaway with American Express Promotion and American Express? Beyond The Beach Promotion and all other value added promotion opportunities.
Exposure and invitation to participate in major consumer shows, e.g., NLG?s Vacation Expo (25,000 visitors in 2004), the NY Times Show (20,000 visitors in 2004), Miami Herald Show (6,000 visitors in 2003) etc.
Use of the consumer and travel trade database at Inktel for direct-mail opportunities. Database can be customized to your specifications (state, zip, interest, dates of inquiry etc.)
Use of your hotel?s facilities for Promotion Board sponsored events, familiarization trips, seminars etc. (at an established industry rate).
Lobbying initiatives, in conjunction with the Bahamas Hotel Association, the Out Island Promotion Board and the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board on matters that could lead to cost savings for our members.
Participation in educational/training opportunities targeting the needs of our Board members, done in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism, Bahamas Hotel Association, Caribbean Hotel Association and the College of The Bahamas.
Membership in the Board is open to all hotels in Nassau Paradise Island that have been licensed by the Bahamas Hotel Licensing Board. All active Board member hotels are required to add a Resort Levy to the cost of each room night. (3% for properties already belonging to affiliate /local board such as PITDA or ANR, 4% for all other properties).
