Alpitour World Returns to Grand Bahama Island

On Thursday, June 9th, 2016 the Island of Grand Bahama rolled out the red carpet to welcome passengers on board the Neos Airline 767 - 300ER inaugural flight, operated by Alpitour World.

The service returns to the destination after four years, providing direct charter flights from Milan, Italy to Freeport, Grand Bahama.

The program, which began on June 9th, will run until August 18th bringing 100 passengers to the island weekly.

Travelers will enjoy seven night stays at participating properties, including but not limited to the all-inclusives, which are a popular European preference.

Betty Bethel, Director for the Ministry of Tourism Grand Bahama Island, spoke to the significance of the return of the European market to the island via the Alpitour charter during the inaugural event.

Bethel said, “The Ministry of Tourism’s Grand Bahama and Europe offices, along with its industry partners have been working really hard to get the flight back to the destination of Grand Bahama.”

She added that, “In light of the European traveler preference being the all-inclusive hotels, the growth in the island’s product mix to include three dedicated all-inclusive hotels gives the destination a favorable positioning for this market.”

Anthony Stuart, Director for the Bahamas Tourist Offices in Europe said, “The Italian visitors are familiar with Grand Bahama and they are pleased that Alpitour has returned.”

He said that, “BTO Italy is working closely with Alpitour, travel partners and consumers to ensure the success of this program and to see it return again in 2017 in an even bigger way.”
