Bahamas Ministry of Tourism Announces Lineup of Summer 2024 Boating Flings

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (11 June 2024) – The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation (BMOTIA) Summer Boating Flings are gearing up for a full schedule. Every weekend, from 6 June through 28 July, beginner and veteran boaters will take to the seas, crossing the Gulf Stream to experience an “ocean road trip” across a number of Bahamian islands.

Boaters can choose from six flings to Grand Bahama, Bimini and Eleuthera or participate in them all for a summer to remember. Guests will have a chance to go fishing, explore the islands’ historic landmarks and popular dive sites, the beautiful coral reefs and the diverse sea life, as well as hang out with locals, taste the delicacy of Bahamian cuisine and immerse themselves in Bahamian culture and heritage.

BMOTIA Regional Manager Ahmad Williams, who has responsibility for the Vertical Markets, said, “Historically, the flings have been a significant driver of new business to the destination as the core concept of the Bahamas boating flings is to show boaters how to get to The Bahamas and ensure they want to come back again on their own.

“These flings continue to be a safe and authentic experience for new and repeat boaters, so much so that it has become a bucket list activity for boat owners,” said Williams. “The best part is that these flings help to generate revenue in small island communities and highlight how there is so much more to The Islands of The Bahamas than just Nassau, with more than 700 islands and 2,500 cays just waiting for exploration.”

The dates for Summer 2024 Boating Flings are:

This year, participants will have the chance to escape to the pristine paradise of Eleuthera on an extended boating fling, where turquoise waters meet powdery white sand, and adventure beckons at every turn. Boaters can look forward to the thrill of the open sea and creating lasting memories of sun-soaked days. Discover a sprawling stretch of wild beauty with miles of greenery and vibrant fauna and flora on mainland Eleuthera, as well as a secret 3-mile expanse of pink sand beach in the quaint seaside town of Harbour Island with its New England-style architecture. We invite avid boaters to come for the ride but stay for the cuisine, culture and warm hospitality of the Bahamian people.

All Flings depart from Bahia Mar Yachting Center in Fort Lauderdale. All vessels must have a valid cruising permit obtained prior to departure in order to facilitate initial clearance and entry process in The Bahamas. Bahamas tourism officials are encouraging persons to experience the full schedule by choosing to be a part of all of the summer boating flings. Registration remains open for all flings, but spots are reserved on a first come, first serve basis and dates are subject to change.

It is recommended that interested persons attend a Captains Meeting at the Bahia Mar Marina in Fort Lauderdale. Meetings are held on the Wednesday before each fling and begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. For more details on registration fees and other information, please visit https://www.bahamas.com/boating-fling-registrationational.

Whether persons are planning a quick trip or a leisurely island-hop across multiple islands, The Bahamas’ crystal-clear waters and warm temperatures make it an irresistible destination for boating. Throughout The Bahamas, boating enthusiasts can find well-equipped marinas with all the boating and docking essentials for boats of all sizes and stays of any length.
