The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism & Aviation presents The Caribbean Community-Based Tourism Toolkit Virtual National Workshop

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation Sustainability Department will be hosting a virtual national workshop on The Caribbean Community Based Tourism Toolkit. The virtual workshop will be held on May 12, 2021, at 12:00 (EST). Come and learn more about these tools at our virtual national workshop sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation. 

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism Sustainability Department will host a virtual workshop on the Caribbean Community Based Tourism with panelists from Compete Caribbean. The 1-day virtual workshop is scheduled for May 12th, 2021 at 12 pm.  The session will include a 1-hour presentation on the various elements of the community-based tourism tool kit (see table below), and how these tools can be used to enhance community-based tourism within The Bahamas.

The National Workshop on Community Based Tourism is focused on introducing tourism agencies in The Bahamas to the Community Based Tourism Toolkit developed by Caribbean Tourism Organization and Compete Caribbean Partnership Facility. The toolkit consists of several elements including the Community Based Tourism Enterprise Handbook, Community Based Tourism Diagnostic Tool, Asset inventory, Destination Profile, and consumer research executed by Euro-monitoring. 

The session will wrap up with a question-and-answer period. It is targeted at tourism agencies and organizations to ensure that they are informed of the community-based tourism toolkit. Community-based tourism provides a sustainable approach to tourism development in The Bahamas. It helps with the development of a tourism product that is of the people and from the people, focusing on people, place, and planet.
