The Air Show is an undertaking after several years of partnership between the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism (BMOT) and Sun N Fun, organizers of the second largest aviation show in the United States of America and will be run by veteran air boss, John Wayne Air Cavalry, LLC.

Expected to attract hundreds of pilots, aviation enthusiasts and media professionals to Grand Bahama Island, the Air Show will feature some of the most talented and skilled aviation stunt performers in America.

The one-hour air show will feature spectacular aerobatic and low-lying maneuvers from precise formation flying squads to solo routines coupled with the aircrafts overhead roars and high-speed demonstrations promises to be exciting and captivating from start to finish.

As a part of its opening act at 6 pm on April 16, famed parachutist, Keith Walter, will conduct a fly in over the crystal clear waters of Taino Beach, bearing the Bahamian flag.  The fly in which will be precisely synchronized with the singing of the Bahamas National Anthem, sung by the Grand Bahama Youth Choir, will culminate with his landing on white sand at Taino Beach.

In addition to the high impact airshow, Young Eagles, students between the ages of 8 to17 years and who are interested in aviation, will be hosted to a one day seminar and workshop, April 15, 2016, to learn more about the fascinating aviation industry and career opportunities.  The students will also take a short plane ride given by participating pilots from the Grand Bahama Airport.

Greg Rolle, a certified pilot and Sr. Director of Sales and Marketing and Sports for the BMOT said  “the unique and incredible opportunity this Air Show brings is truly phenomenal, and one we hope to make a fixture on our calendar, each year”.

“While we expect that hundreds of visitors will experience and enjoy first hand, the beautiful land, air and sea product of Grand Bahama, we believe that more importantly, this family friendly activity will further inspire our future aviation professionals of the Bahamas to excellence,” he said.

During the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, the US Air Force Thunderbirds and US Navy Blue Angels held aviation shows in Grand Bahama.
