The Hon. I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments, and Aviation, Signs a Historic Air Service Agreement with the Co- operative Republic of Guyana
Nassau, The Bahamas, November 27, 2024 – The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the Co-operative Republic of Guyana have officially entered into an air service agreement, marking a significant milestone in aviation relations between the two nations. This landmark treaty establishes the framework for airlines from both countries to operate international air services, facilitating the movement of passengers and cargo and fostering closer economic and cultural ties.
The Hon. I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments, and Aviation of The Bahamas, and The Hon. Bishop Juan Edghill, Minister of Public Works of Guyana, signed the agreement. The ceremony underscores both nations’ commitment to strengthening regional connectivity and expanding opportunities for trade and tourism.
Deputy Prime Minister Cooper said, “This is a monumental step for regional commerce and connectivity and the possibility of advancing our ambition of multi-destination tourism.”
The Civil Aviation Authority Bahamas (CAA-B), working alongside The Ministry of Tourism, Investments, Aviation, and the Attorney General’s OCice, has actively negotiated bilateral air service agreements with countries worldwide. These eCorts were recently bolstered by The Bahamas’ participation in the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Air Service Negotiation Event (ICAN) 2024.
This latest agreement with Guyana reflects The Bahamas’ steadfast commitment to enhancing global aviation partnerships, creating new opportunities for economic growth, and fostering greater regional and international connectivity.
