Launch of Bahamasair Freeport – Orlando Service
On Wednesday, April 27th, 2016, senior officials from Bahamasair and the tourism sector of Grand Bahama Island gathered for a press conference to announce the launch of the airline’s new Freeport to Orlando service.
The service is slated to commence on June 19th, and will feature Bahamasair’s brand new ATR 70, 70-seater aircraft, offering passengers an upgraded experience including in-flight catering service.
The announcement came as newly-appointed Director of Sales and Marketing, Frederick Donathan, shared with the press that the launch of the new service “signals our commitment to recapturing our competitive position as the preferred carrier of choice among the local market for travel to Florida.”
Donathan advised that in its infancy, the service will operate two days a week, but it is anticipated that as demand builds, the airline will increase its frequency.
Director for the Grand Bahama Tourism Office, Betty Bethel, shared, “The new airlift service to Grand Bahama provides an opportunity to capitalize on European travelers who vacation in the Orlando Florida area, offering a chance for them to have an upgraded experience.”
Bethel said, “The new service also comes at a time when the Island of Grand Bahama prepares to host its signature summertime festivities, Goombay Summer and Junkanoo Summer Festivals.”
Chairman of the Board for Bahamasair, Valentine Grimes, affirmed that marketing efforts through partnerships with both the Ministry of Tourism and the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board are in effect.
Introductory rates for the Bahamasair Freeport - Orlando service are as low as $232.00, including taxes and can be purchased online at bahamasiar.com or via telephone 1-800-22-4262.
