WestJet Agents Get Familiarization Trip To The Bahamas
Scores of WestJet Agents got a taste of The Bahamas this week as part of The Ministry of Tourism’s People-to-People programme.
The group from the WestJet Call Centre spent the week touring New Providence and learning about The Bahamas.
However, according to Manager of WestJet Vacations Colleen Tynan, The Bahamas has always been a popular pick for potential visitors.
“It’s one of our great island-destinations that we sell and it is really important for our agents to come down here and experience the properties so that they can really convince our guests that this is the right place for them to be,” she said.
“We’ve all 100 per cent enjoyed our time here and I know that this will increase our sales into The Bahamas.”
Team Leader with WestJet Vacations Sue Webster said the best part of our trip was engaging with Bahamians.
“We’ve been treated like royalty and it’s like coming home here,” she said. “We’ve had the opportunity to see a number of properties and see the island. I can’t complain at all.
Raymond Dames, a veteran People-to-People ambassador, has been working with the Ministry of Tourism from its inception in 1978 to give tourists an authentically Bahamian experience.
Dames, who is a real estate professional, took the opportunity to showcase a home in Bal Moral.
“We are showcasing one of these beautiful homes in Bal Moral and sharing a Bahamian meal with them,” he said.
“They’ve eaten peas n’ grits, macaroni, conch salad, conch fritters and fish. We want to make sure they taste all things Bahamians.”
There are over 500 active members of the People-to-People programme.
