Persons applying to participate in the Bahamahost Programme are required to submit a completed application form and pay a fee (which is non-refundable).

Public Service Drivers or potential drivers are required to provide a copy of their road traffic license and a passport size photo.

The programme is free of charge to civil servants and high school students, who are enrolled in a class designed for them. It is not free if they enroll in a class designed for another group (i.e. hotel employee, PSD etc).

Bahamahost certification for hotel employees, civil servants and other groups will not qualify persons to apply for P.S.D. license. Each session is designed to meet specific needs (e.g. sessions for hotel employees include Hotel Operations and Security in a Tourist Resort and the Public Service Drivers’ sessions includes Road Traffic Rules & Regulations, Basic Defensive Driving, Components of a good Tour, Presentation Skills and Tour Guiding Techniques).

Persons who have completed the Bahamahost program in a another session may enroll in a Public Service Driver session, within the year, for an additional fee of $10.00. They will be required to take the final exam again.

A replacement certificate and a replacement pin may be obtained for a fee of $5.00.

Persons completing the programme within the last five years will be required to take a refresher course (particularly Public Service Drivers).

If a participant misses more than two classes for reasons other than illness, the participant will be dropped from the session.

Persons will not be allowed to join after the second session of a programme.

Handouts are not to be given out to persons unless they are participating in the programme. However, city and country tour booklets will be sold for $5.00 to persons who have completed Bahamahost.

Public Service Drivers will be issued a Bahamahost Identification Badge and vehicle owners will also be issued a Bahamahost or a Certified Tour Guide Decal after successful completion of the programme. They will be asked to sign a letter upon the issuance of these items.

If a participant is unable to complete a course for reasons such as illness, accident or similar unavoidable occurrences, the trainer may record an incomplete next to the person?s name in the record book. This individual may retake the Bahamahost programme at a later date without additional payment.

If a participant is dropped or fails the course, they would have to pay the registration fee of $50.00 if they enroll in another Bahamahost session.
